Forged Iron Railing

Custom hand-forged staircase railing fabricated for a private duplex in Manhattan.

The Story

The balustrade features an intricate composition of forged scrolls and volutes, each element textured with a pronounced bark-like hammer finish that enhances the handcrafted character of the metal.

All forged steel components were finished with a black patina, creating depth and contrast within the ornamental pattern. The railing is topped with a solid brass handrail polished to a mirror finish, left in its natural brass color to bring warmth and refinement to the piece.

This project combines traditional blacksmith techniques with refined architectural detailing, creating a decorative yet elegant stair railing.
