Stainless Steel Staircase

Stone House Residence

Custom stainless steel staircase and railing installed in a private residence featuring exposed stone architecture.

The Story

This project uses the same sandwich stringer construction as a previous staircase designed for the client, composed of two stainless steel plates with a central structural steel plate clamped between them, creating a layered visual contrast between brushed stainless steel and darker steel.

The railing is fabricated entirely from stainless steel with horizontal bars, maintaining a clean and contemporary aesthetic. The structure supports glass treads, reinforcing the light and minimal design of the staircase.

In this project, the client intentionally chose to contrast contemporary metalwork with traditional stone walls and timber elements, creating a striking dialogue between modern engineering and the character of the historic-style interior.
